This week in class we learned all about special derivative rules that make finding f'(x) way easier. (Really!?!? you made us struggle bus through that horrible 3 step process for an entire week ?)
This new set of equations aka funs-y shortcuts are basically my new best friends, except you know, on the quizzes when I forget how to use the quotient rule and get wrecked. Anyway, the equations we learned are below.

My favorite rule is the power rule because it is really quick to process. You multiply the coefficient by the power, then subtract 1 from the power. So 5x^3 would become 15x^2. I also like the product rule and quotient rule when I remember how to do them. In fact the only rule that is still confusing is the chain rule. I understand it for the most part, but if I think about it too long I will confuse myself. And the equations that have a chain within a chain give me a headache. Oh well I will just review that rule a lot before our test, because other than that I'm good! :-)
The trig shortcuts are also really nice, I just don't like them as much because algebra comes easier to me than trig. And sure, right now we are just plugging in derivatives and solving. But I just know that soon the trig questions will get more complex. And when they do you will hear me muttering insults under my breath in the background.
It was a pretty short, but good week, can't wait to see what we learn next!
